@ Alan: yeah yan nga ang nakakapanghinayang. kung saang sports sana na may chance tayong makapagcompete ng patas yun ang hindi popular sa atin. Siguro dahil na rin yan sa ating American legacy…pinoy loves everything American, from sports, showbiz to politics.

@Renee: mas magandang maagang matuto ng sports ang mga bata para maagang madevelop ang kumpyansa nila sa sarili. Lalo na soccer -my favorite. Yes, I knew your Lolo and Lola, they’re one of the pillars ng MSU academic community. Though I havent met your Dad but I heard about him (Jalal, was it Jalal?)too. I’ll ask my dad about your Gaerlan ancestry. I’m sure he knows them. And lastly, yes, balik Manila na naman kami andito na kami ngayon nakatira

about your five-year-old son, i don’t think it’s too early. tama na siguro ‘yung age niya. my own nephew started soccer training din this summer. he just turned five last month (april). he was pretty psyched up about it.:) his dad (my brother) kasi plays din eh. “hinands on” niya muna anak niya before sending him to the summer training.:)

and, wow! wow! another MSUan family!:) i’ll ask my folks about your grandparents.:)

I’m considering Soccer Mom duties for the summer. I wonder is my son, Lance, at 5, is old enough to learn anything from the summer program? I guess it all depends on the schedule. If it’s too eary, forget about it. Kasi naman, I have two other babies to think of ano?

So you were raised in MSU? I/m sure your parents know my grandparents, Dr. Rufino de los Santos and Mrs. Lucia de los Santos. I think my Lola Luz was Dean of the English department once. They moved to Iligan in the late 70’s. My father, Joel de los Santos, and his brother, Dr. Rene “Bing” de los Santos, also grew up in MSU.

Growing up, I thought we were the only people with North (Gaerlan)-South (de los Santos) roots. I guess I’ve found another kindred spirit in you. How did the Gaerlans get so far South?

My maternal grandfather’s name was Atty. Manuel Lavin Gaerlan. He had e brother who was an engineer in Bacnotan, La Union, named Dionisio Gaerlan. Does your father know of them?

Anyway, I hope you don’t mind if I start referring to you as “pinsan!”

BTW, I’m confused. The Greenbelt post threw me off. Do you live in the Metro Manila area or Iligan? Just curious.

you remind me of my uncle who is a soccer fanatic. he coaches soccer too. sana makahiligan ng maraming mga pinoy ang soccer no? dito may pag-asa tayo sa international competition dahil hindi nagre-require ng height. di tulad ng basketball na sya naman kinagigiliwan ng marami. parati naman tayong kulelat dito. ay, ambot!

Indeed it was a classic match. I’ve made a post about this classic Real Madrid and Barca’s La liga match last April. I hope these two teams will meet again, perhaps the finals of La Liga.

yeah, i love the spanish league. barca, i like because mahal ko si ronaldinho.:) real madrid, well, they have the best. it was weird how they couldn’t even make it even sa quarter finals. oh well. i saw their last game sa champion’s league eh. pero the best ‘yung brca vs. rmad sa la liga!:)

Thanks for your comment Baby Pink. Actually I was hoping for Real Madrid or Barcelona to win the UEFA Champions League pero na knock-out sila sa early stage pa lang. I admire Liverpool too especially during the time when Michael Owen was still there but I like the Rossoneri more. Yes, the Rossoneri might not make it to the Serie A, but if they win the Champions League they’ll be the Champion of European football. But then again, this remains to be seen, ika nga bilog ang bola.

My prediction is 2-1 for ACMilan!

noong pagkapanalo pa lang ng liverpool laban sa chelsea, naka-kalendaryo ko na ang larong ito!!!:)

anyway, i like both teams. i like ac milan better than liverpool pero i won’t mind kung manalo ang liverpool (medyo may kalabuan, though). tingnan natin paano ire-resolve ng fifa kapag nag-champ sila tapos hindi nmn sila kasali sa top four sa premeirship. wahihihi!:)

basta, ang importante sa akin ngayon AMIN (juve) ang scudetto! wahoo!:)

Hi Sol, yup this is football, pero binansagan ito ng US as Soccer kaya ito naging Soccer Football. Dyan sa US ang liga nito ay ang Major League Soccer (MLS).Kaiba ito sa National Football League o NFL, kung saan imbes Football - kamay ang ginagamit nila para sa bola.
