Do Isrealis love their Children too?

July 31st, 2006

qana2.jpgEverytime I hear news about children killed in wars, a part of me dies.

Nothing can justify the act of killing innocent civilians especially women and children. Yes, especially the children. In Peace or in War, killing innocent children intentionally or by accident is murder of the highest degree.

The recent Israeli attack on Sunday morning (30 July) on a house in a Lebanese village of Qana which killed more than 60 civilians, among them more than 30 children is an unjustifiable and condemnable act. Israel should pay for this crime.

While the United Nations, bowing to US pressures, is careful not to use the word “condemnation” against this criminal act commited by Israel, I have this to say, The blood of the dead Children of Qana is in the hands of the Israeli Government- I Condemn Israel!!

When do we learn? To borrow the lyrics from a song by Sting:

There’s no such thing as a winnable war
It’s a lie we don’t believe anymore

We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
What might save us, me and you
Is if the “Israelis” love their children too!

The Omen

July 25th, 2006

Last week I viewed this video and pondered on its parody;

Then last Sunday, July 23, I read this paid ad of Sigaw ng Bayan that says in part:

Sigawngbayan.jpg

Mark Chapter 5 (The Holy Bible, King James Version)

[8] For he (Jesus) said unto him (the demon), Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
[9] And he (Jesus) asked him (the demon), What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

Are these just scary coincidences or is this an Omen?

According to Ambrose Bierce’s Devil’s Dictionary: “OMEN, n. A sign that something will happen if nothing happens.”

A Geography Lesson

July 25th, 2006

If there’s one thing highlighted during GMA’s State of Another Nation Address yesterday, aside from presenting a Brochure than a speech, was a lesson on geography. Only this time it was the geography of a mythical land you come to realize later on was the Philippines.

But before I get my knowledge on Philippine geography muddled by GMA’s Super-Regions, I would rather watch this video for a refresher. I bet you this is far more original, enjoyable and educational than GMA’s powerpoint presentation.

Heto ang orig!

See, walang binatbat ni katiting ang presentation ni GMA!!

Weird Habits Tag

July 24th, 2006

Tagged by Bambit:

The writer will create a blog with “6 weird things/habits about yourself.”

People who get tagged will have to post a blog of their own telling 6 weird things/habits about themselves.

At the end of your 6 weird/things/habits, you need to choose 6 people that you would like to be tagged and list their names.

Don’t forget to leave a comment that says “You are Tagged!” in their comments and tell them to read yours for instructions on how to proceed!

Here goes some of my habits that others may find weird…

1) I always blow air into the mouth of a beer bottle before taking a gulp.

2) I never ask light for my cigarette from an elderly person.

3) I never light my cigarette from a candle flame.

4) I spit everytime I take a leak.

5) I don’t leave the house when the time is not at full, quarter or half the hour.

6) I don’t take the first taxi that comes my way.

I now tag the following people:

1. Major Tom
2. Denver
3. Rene
4. Babypink
5. Caterpillar
6. and anyone else who reads this!

Maritess vs. The Superfriends Reload

July 18th, 2006

I have already seen this Maritess vs. Superfriends comedy flick way back in 2002. Thanks to Youtube, now I can post and run it here on my blog.

Here’s the flick’s introduction from its producer’s website:

Did you ever wonder why whenever you’d watch “The Superfriends” on a Saturday morning way back in the day, that the Hall of Justice was kept so nice and clean? Well, it was because of their Filipina maid who you never saw.

We’ve all heard about the plight of all the Overseas Filipino Workers leaving the Philippines in the thousands just to find jobs good enough to send money back to their families in the islands. Many of them still suffer disgraceful working and living conditions beyond our comprehension, oftentimes silently.

Even our own Superfriends can treat these domestic laborers very much in the same manner and this is one of their stories…
